How to solve underwater vision correction?

18. 10. 2021

Sight is the most important human sense. It helps us to orient ourselves in space, to perceive the surrounding light, colors and shapes. This applies not only on land but also under water. In order to get the best out of your diving experience, good eyesight is almost a must. However, since good eyesight is far from a given, nowadays there are several options for solving vision correction under water.

1. Adhesive silicone lenses in the mask

The advantage of reading lenses is their universal use and relatively low purchase price. Magnifying optical lenses can be used in diving masks, swimming goggles, full-face masks, but also, for example, in sports or sunglasses. The disadvantage may be their limited correction of up to 3 diopters and a shorter service life.

2. Original glasses from the manufacturer

Some manufacturers also supply dioptric lenses for diving masks, which can be easily replaced with the original ones. In our offer you will find dioptric glasses for diving masks in the range from - 10 to 3 diopters. Segment lenses offer the possibility of both distance and near vision correction. For example, dioptric lenses for LOOK and LOOK HD masks: https://www.agama-diving.cz/dioptricka-skla-k-masce-look-look-hd-1-do-10 . The advantage is their low purchase price, which varies depending on the specific type, around 1,000 CZK per slide, as well as a short delivery time (usually within 2 working days).

Swimming goggles with interchangeable dioptric lenses, offered by the manufacturer Aqua Sphere. You can find their underwater prescription glasses here: https://www.agama-diving.cz/plavecke-bryle-aqua-sphere-eagle .

3. Production of glasses to order

In the case of combined vision defects or individual customer requirements, it is possible to have dioptric lenses for diving masks made to order. In this case, their production is based on a specific prescription from an ophthalmologist. The advantage of such glasses is the optimal correction of defects, including the possibility of bifocal lenses. A disadvantage can be their higher purchase price, which depends on the complexity of the production of specific diving lenses.

We cannot recommend the use of regular contact lenses for diving or swimming due to their possible washing out and the risk of infection.

Nowadays, there are plenty of underwater vision correction options. So don't let yourself be deprived of the beauty of the underwater world. It would be an eternal mistake.
