Freedive masks are specific in their minimum internal volume, which plays a role in pressure equalization, as the diver loses concentration and energy when pressure equalization is often needed. Freediving snorkels are suitable without an exhalation valve due to hydrodynamics. An integral part of the freediver's equipment are fins, which give the freediver maximum grip with minimal effort thanks to soft and long fins.
